§ 01

What to include.

A short, specific first message produces a far more useful reply than a general one. For a workflow conversation, these are the things worth covering.

  • The workflow. What happens today, in which application, and how often.
  • The owner. Who is accountable for the process and its exceptions.
  • Correctness. How you would judge, independently, that a case had been handled correctly.
  • Access. Whether a test environment or representative data could be made available, and under what authorisation.
  • Scale. Roughly — volume, handling time and exception rate.

Please do not send

  • Credentials or access tokens. We will not ask for them by email.
  • Real customer or personal data in a first message — describe the shape of the data instead.
  • Anything under a confidentiality obligation you have not confirmed you can share.

Ordinary email should be treated as readable in transit. For anything sensitive, send a short message first and we will agree a suitable channel. How correspondence is handled is set out in the privacy notice.
